Dean's Message
Welcome
to the University of Wisconsin-Baraboo/Sauk County! Located
in the picturesque setting of the Baraboo hills, UW-B/SC offers
student-centered, freshman-sophomore liberal arts programming,
which can serve as the foundation for virtually any major.
We're your best start for a bachelor's degree and unlimited
career opportunities.
Our classes are taught by outstanding faculty who are dedicated
to teaching and committed to their fields of study. With the
lowest tuition in the UW System and an average class size
of 21, we offer the kind of access to instructors that is
typically reserved for upper-level students at larger campuses.
All of this makes us an exceptional value…and the “Best
Start for the Life You Want.” The UW-B/SC campus
community includes approximately 700 students and 90 faculty
and staff. We offer a number of innovative programs
to help students succeed:
-
A comprehensive First-Year Experience program for incoming
freshman
-
Friendly, knowledgeable advisors who are available to
help every step of the way
-
Honors and internships programs, which provide opportunities
for hands-on learning
-
A wide range of extracurricular activities, including
varsity and intramural athletics, student government,
theatre and music
-
Online courses and collaborative programs, which provide
flexibility and convenience in earning an associate's
or bachelor's degree
As a campus dedicated to community development, we partner
with a variety of non-profit groups and private businesses
to provide innovative programming. Our Continuing Education
Office delivers credit and non-credit offerings to more than
2,000 students and community members annually.
We are currently involved in several initiatives to enhance
teaching and learning:
As your local UW, we strive to provide access to higher education,
cultural enrichment, and lifelong learning. I invite you to
explore UW-Baraboo/Sauk County online and in person, and I
look forward to seeing you on campus in the near future.
Sincerely,
Thomas C. Pleger, Ph.D.
