Career Development
The mission of career development at UW-Baraboo/Sauk County
is to provide assistance to students as they acquire skills,
make decisions, and develop commitments related to meaningful
work. Career development at UW-Baraboo/Sauk County strives
to provide comprehensive services designed to better prepare
students for academic major selection, career choice, and
successful transition to goal completion. These services
include:
- programs and activities designed to assist individuals
with the selection of majors, careers, and transfer institution
- individual career advising and assessment activities
to assist students in evaluating career, education alternatives
and making decisions
- experiential learning activities--such as internships,
job shadowing experiences--designed to promote and enhance
the acquisition of skills necessary for successful transition
to baccalaureate institutions, the workplace and the
larger world
- programs and activities directed toward helping students
make the important connections with individuals, groups,
and organizations necessary for work and service
Career Development strives to assist students in becoming
self-sufficient in the career planning process, and successful
in the acquisition of meaningful and satisfying work.
Resources
The Career and College Resource Center (CCRC)
The Career and College
Resource Center (CCRC) helps students explore educational
and career options. The CCRC is located in the library.
This resource contains a wide range of career exploration
resources and university catalogs. There are also computers
available to investigate different internet sites dedicated
towards career development. Most hard copy materials may
be checked out through the library staff.
WISCAREERS
WISCareers is a comprehensive careers database with up-to-date information
on thousands of careers. The site includes self-assessments (interests, skills,
and work environment preferences), information on specific majors of study,
and occupations. To access this site, you must be a registered UW Baraboo/Sauk
County student and pick up a WISCAREERS Registration Information form through
the Office of Student Services.
Transfer Information
System
The Transfer Information System (TIS), is maintained by the University of Wisconsin
System , and offers UW and Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) students
the ability to see how their credits will transfer to any UW campus. TIS also
contains transfer planning guides on a variety of different majors within the
UW System.
UW HELP Online
This site includes information about the UW System, as
well as links to all UW campus websites and many other
useful career and educational sites, such as MajorMania and Career Assessment.
