GREETINGS:
To all of you first-time visitors to Summerset Theatre, welcome! And welcome back to all of you who came and shared your laughter with us over the last three summers. Summerset is back with its continuing mission to bring you affordable and professional outdoor summer theatre.
Affordable.Check out our ticket prices, and compare them with other theatres in the area, and we think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Looking for extra savings, try our very popular Wednesday night Supersaver Specials. When you compare an evening at the theatre to many of the other activities that you and your family could choose this summer, we think you'll find that Summerset offers an excellent value. But for all the savings, we don't skimp on quality, because our productions are also...
Professional. This summer we are offering a full length comedy plus a youth "playlet." Our feature play is designed and directed by professional theatre artists. The acting company is an exciting mix of hired professional actors, UW Baraboo students, and the best of the local acting pool. This year we are proud to present You Can’t Take It With You, the hilarious Pulitzer Prize winning comedy by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman. It follows the uproarious antics of a family of cheerful eccentrics, the Vanderhofs. When they meet the staid and sober Kirbys, the fireworks fly!
Each year, our professional actors share their theater skills and knowledge with local middle school students. For the first time – drum roll please – local theater students from Middle School University will be performing on the Summerset stage. As part of their course work, the students will write, produce and star in a half-hour prequel to You Can’t Take It With You. Catch this charming playlet on Sundays – July 13th and 20th – at our regular time.
Outdoors. One of the best things about Summerset is our
beautiful hillside on the UW-Baraboo/Sauk County campus.
Bring your blanket or lawn chair, carry in a picnic or purchase
a meal at our fabulous concession stand, sip the beverage of your
choice, enjoy the sun setting behind the bluffs and laugh yourself
silly. And if the weather turns wet (this is Wisconsin,
after all) we can move into our comfortable indoor theatre. With
all this to offer, how can you not make a date to come out this
summer and see You Can’t Take It With You?
Sponsorship Opportunities. Sponsors play a critical
role in any theatre program. Tickets alone never provide
enough funds to cover all production costs. Summerset Theatre
also relies on in-kind and monetary donations. To learn more about
our sponsorship levels and activities, check out our Sponsorship
Programs for 2008. You can also contact us at: brbsummerset@uwc.edu
or 608.355.5300. Summerset Theatre is a 501(c)3 nonprofit.
Looking forward to seeing you here,
